Dusting of my blog for a big 2013!

My Dear! My Dear! How Long it has been!!!

I am dusting of this Blog, and blowing away all the webs! Hope that 2013 will bring a more dedicated Kasia who looks after her Blog!
I do hope to be more on here this year, especially as lots of exciting things are planned for this Year!

I have been working full time for the last 3 weeks with beautiful children...Ella tagged along :)
and here is one of the things we've been doing...Our Version of the pop ball Cakes!

Cake mix - bake the cake
Mix with its Icing
Roll into round Balls....
You're following me so far?...Pretty easy huh?
Even Ella is amazed how easy it is...not to mention good for practicing our Fine Motor Skills :)

Pop these Lolipop Sticks in. You can buy them from Spotlight Stores or some $2 Shops

Pop them on a tray as such, then into the freezer for 10 minutes, or till you've made the Ganache

To Make the Ganache:
Bring 300ml Thickened Cream to the boil
Add 300g or or so of Nestle Choc Buttons
(I like them as they don't have any nasty additives!)
Turn off and let them melt, while stiring gently

Take the Cake Pops out one by one and dip in the Ganache
then pop them back into the freezer!
The cool thing is you can keep them in the freezer then just eat straight out!
No need for defrosting them. These Cake Pops are perfect for hot days, Birthdays (can be made well in advance) and not too bad on your hips, as one is quite filling, and smaller than a slice of cake
:)

Enjoy!!!

...Feels a bit Like Christmas...

Hello Little Gussy friends!

Christmas is nearly upon us, so full steam ahead I say!...
I've been creating little pieces to make your little ones smile, and help you fill those stockings!

...I've decided to create a little PJ and Nightie range, because lets face it! If you're a child there's no greater joy on Christmas, than to jump out of bed Christmas day and lounge full speed into the living-room, and unwrap those gorgeous presents...time can not be wasted on getting dressed!
But with family popping in for breakfast, lunch or brunch (whatever you do on Christmas day - in my family Christmas Eve is big, so once we open our presents after dinner its straight to bed), you may not want your kids to wear their daggy, ol' tshirt and stained pants PJs...right?...so have a looksy what aunty Gussy has prepared for you....

For Babes... Little Elf Bummies...

Mrs Klaus PJ Set

 Santa's Shorts PJ Set

For the Boys... Old School Rocking Rockstar PJ Shorts...

...and more PJs to come, so keep your eyes peeled on Little Gussy's Facebook Page

http://www.facebook.com/LittleGussy

I also couldn't help myself and had to make another pickup skirt...this one is a Maxi...

Enjoy folks, and I hope to have a little tutorial for you soon again...

Tutorial: Aging Laces and Doilies

Hi lovely, Little Gussy friends!
It's taken me way too long to get this tutorial up, but I've been working on custom orders and now will start work a my new collection
...

But here it is:
How to Age Laces, Doilies...and even clothes!

Yes! I use this even to age white singlets and body suits! It gives it a much nicer colour and effect than when using colour.

From This:                                                                 To This!

So first gather your things:

Although you will most likely have all the supplies ready in your pantry! (if you're a coffee or tea drinker that is :)

1. 2-3 tbsp Instant coffee or 2-3 tea bags (I would not open them up as the leaves will get all mangled in your laces and doilies)
The amount of coffee and tea will depend on the effect you want (stronger coffee/ tea darker effect. Lighter coffee/tea lighter effect)

2. Decent sized heat proof bowl or pot or bucket
3. Water this depends on the effect you want to achieve and the quantity of things you're aging.
A good guide is: 1 cup per 1 Tbsp

Method:

Boil the water and prepare coffee tea like you would. I.e no cream and sugar please lol!
do it in a heat proof bowl, bucket, pot.
Add your laces, doilies tops etc. Make sure all Instant coffee has dissolved before adding your items!
Leave them completely covered in the substance for about an hour. I like to leave them overnight if I want a really deep colour. The less time they soak the lighter they will be. which is still nice if you just want to 'tint' them.

Pull them out after your desired time has lapsed and rinse them under the water. Make sure the water runs clear. Otherwise they will continue to stain, and may stain other fabrics later!!

Once dry iron them on low to medium (medium if fabric)

...and there you have it!

 Laces, Doilies and Tees Aged...Gracefully!

If you have any questions feel free to contact me
lovegussy@gmail.com

Have a great Monday! perhaps next time (hopefully not as long this time) I'll have something cute for boys to show off)

Much Love
